Labor day was a great time to explore places that the normal tourist does not visit in Florida but should. Camp Blanding is a bit of the path but is certainly worth the detour.
The musuem and tour is to remind us today of gallant soldiers of yesterday, in service and sacrifice for our tomorrow. It is a tribute to honor those who made our future possible, ere we forget the price of FREEDOM.
Florida’s fourth largest city in WW II,Camp Blanding operated health clinics, hospitals, bus transportation system .railtoad depot among other things to take care of the base. This city unto itself touched the lives of almost 1 million persons during the war.
Camp Blanding is till used today as a training center.
The museum is free.
