The Harris County Chamber of Commerce has been busy preparing for the 12th annual Wheels O’Fire Century Cycle tour and with only two weeks left the excitement is building. Participants can choose from 26, 45, 68 and 101 mile route courses and spend their day riding the beautiful back roads of Harris County with rest stops every 10-12 miles which are manned by the counties finest volunteer fireman. We have riders that range from 8 years old to 90 and come from all over the United States. Cyclists travel from Florida, Tennessee, New York and last year an Arizona family of 8 flew out here just to ride the Wheels O’Fire 101 mile route. This year we are happy to announce that 150 people have pre-registered for the event and we hope that another 200 cyclists will register at walk up registration taking place on Friday, April 5th from 5:00pm-7:00pm and Saturday, April 6th from 6:30am-8:00am at the Harris County High School Cafeteria.

            The sponsors of Wheels O’Fire play an integral part in this event. The Chamber would like to thank the 2013 sponsors of the cycle tour: Title Sponsor- Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Five-Alarm Sponsor- Georgia Power, Four Alarm Sponsors- PMB Broadcasting, Atmos Energy, SouthComm Publishing, First Peoples Bank, JCG/Koch Foods, Callaway Blue, Daehan Solution, Raw Revolution, Traceable Creations and our Three-Alarm sponsors- Ten-8 and Diverse Power.  Sponsorship of this event helps us stock the rest stops with supplies as well as provide the t-shirts to cyclists and most importantly contribute to the local Volunteer Fire Departments.

Cyclists will be on the roads of from 7:30am-5:00pm on Saturday, April 6th. The Chamber asks the local community to welcome these riders toHarrisCounty and to please share the road with them. Proceeds of Wheels O’Fire are shared with the Harris County Volunteer Fire Departments. This is just one way to give back and to thank them for keep us safe inHarrisCounty. Calling All Artists….
Corner Arts Gallery, Newnan  is inviting all Artists to enter in the “Oh What a Beautiful Day” exhibit for the month of April.
The “Oh What a Beautiful Day” Exhibit will be for any medium.  If you can’t download it, please go to the website cornerartsgallery.net or I will have some at the gallery.
Up to three entries allowed per artist with a non-refundable $5 entry fee for each piece submitted.  There will be a judge and we will give out 3 ribbons.  It should be an interesting show for sure.  I can’t wait to see all the entries!!!  It’s going to be fun!!!

SENOIA COFFEE & CAFÉ and BARTELS, INC. hosts Clean Laughs Night featuring the different, original, funny and unusual comedy of RICK STAR!  Rick draws upon his heritage, on his childhood experiences and family life for most of his material.  His humor is intended to be no more offensive than that of late night TV.  “If you’re clean”, Rick says, “you can work anywhere”.

It is our privilege to have Rick Starr join us for Clean Laughs Night at Senoia Coffee & Café.  Another event not to be missed!

Friday – April 5 :         7:30pm (seating begins for food and beverages)

and Saturday – April 6:     7:00pm (seating begins for food and beverages)

Reservations are $20.00 per guest and must be paid in advance by credit card online at www.cleanlaughsnight.com  or by cash or check at Senoia Coffee & Café.

All seats require a minimum food/beverage purchase of $10 the night of the show.

On today’s show, Patrick talks about Easter with the Chief Operating Officer for Explorations in Antiquity, Derrick Lewis.

With the 12th annual Wheels O’Fire Cycle Tour slated for Saturday, April 6th, the Harris County Chamber of Commerce is busy making preparations for these visitors to our area.   Some 300-500 riders are expected to participate in the event, choosing either the 26, 45, 68 or 101 mile routes for an exciting day of touringHarrisCounty’s beautiful back roads.

 

The event kicks off on Saturday, April 6th at Harris County High School, beginning with breakfast.  Riders will hit the road at their leisure and at the conclusion of their ride will return to the high school for a spaghetti lunch.  Registration and sign-in begin at 8:00 a.m., or cyclists can check in early and find out about local dining and lodging at the “Meet & Greet” on Friday, April 5th  from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Tour Headquarters in the Harris County High School Cafeteria inHamilton.

 

The early bird registration price of $35 is still available through March 22nd and only those who are registered by that date are guaranteed a t-shirt.  Walk-up registration on the day of the event is $45.

This weekend Troup County will be home to 600 high school tennis players plus their coaches and parents for the Granger Invitational.  We hope many of you will see these visitors in your restaurants, hotels, shops and attractions.  If you have a sign for messages outside of your business, be sure to welcome them and encourage them to be your customer!  They arrive tomorrow (Friday) and will be here through Sunday.

Our next Clean Laughs Night weekend at Senoia Coffee & Café is Friday and Saturday, April 5 & 6th!  Our comedian is RICK STARR!  Save the dates and look for information coming in just a couple of days.

The Falconaires United States Air Force Academy Band concert scheduled for Monday, March 25th at 7:00 pm has been regrettably cancelled. The band has cancelled all national public concerts as a result of the impacts of sequestration. Both the staff of The Centre for Performing and Visual Arts and the Board Members of the Patrons of the Centre apologize for the change in our schedule and hope that our Patrons will understand the dynamic nature of these national events. Lt. Col. Schofield, USAF stated that they “look forward to a time when the Air Force Academy Band can continue representing the Air Force Academy on the national stage and hope that our travels bring us back to Newnan in the future.” More Information
