Southeastern Assistance in Healthcare’s (SAIH) annual gala, Friends of the Fight, is October 21 at Pinewood Studios.

SAIH is a voluntary and charitable organization founded to help cancer patients in treatment along with their immediate families with non-medical financial burdens. Such financial stressors include utilities, housing, transportation, child care and other basic living expenses. Our mission is to lessen the financial stress of the patients so they can focus on healing.

A cancer diagnosis does not just affect the person, it affects the entire family with unexpected financial burdens which makes continue the cancer fight very difficult. Families make financial plans for a vacation, for Christmas, for their children’s college education and for retirement. A cancer diagnosis is not one families plan for.

Join us for Friends of the Fight for a fun evening of cocktails, dinner, dancing and live and silent auction all for a great cause.

HOTLANTA

Dixieland Jazz

Thursday, October 5, 7:00 pm

Hotlanta, a six-piece Dixieland jazz band from Atlanta, Georgia, recreates the sounds of jazz as heard during the early decades of this century in New Orleans. Using clarinet, cornet, trombone, banjo, tuba and drums, they bring to life old favorites like “Royal Garden Blues”, “Riverboat Shuffle”, “Fidgety Feet” and of course, the classic, “When the Saints Go Marchin’ In”. Palmer Wood, in Atlanta’s Highpoint Magazine, calls Hotlanta “a trip to New Orleans without the hangover!”

Join Friends of Chattahoochee Bend State Park
in bringing biking dollars to Coweta
Supporters of new bike trails at Chattahoochee Bend State Park say that bike trails just make good business sense, and they’re rolling out a new campaign to help educate the community on this point.
According to Friends of Chattahoochee Bend State Park, some 8.3 million Americans enjoy mountain biking, and 198,000 of them live within 100 miles of Chattahoochee Bend. The Friends note that Coldwater Mountain’s bike trails in Anniston, Alabama are estimated to add $1.9 to $5.9 million per year to the Anniston economy, and a NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) High School Racing Event has an economic impact of $400,000 on the Auburn, Alabama economy.
Local leaders say it’s time to bring some of these biking dollars to Coweta County. The Friends of Chattahoochee Bend group has launched a new Trail Fund to create a mountain bike trail system. These trails will include a beginner to intermediate trail highlighting the Chattahoochee River Basin, a gateway trail for beginners and families new to mountain biking, intermediate trails with a “back country” feel, and more advanced trails with boulder and rock formations.
Supporters of the project are encouraging everyone to “Support The Bend Destination Trail” by sharing posts about the project on social media using the hashtag #trailsaregoodforbusiness.
“Since ‘quality of life’ is one of our Pillars of Prosperity at the Newnan-Coweta Chamber, this project is a perfect fit for our Chamber members to get behind,” said Chamber President and CEO Candace Boothby. “Encouraging our citizens to make use of our wonderful state park while also benefiting the local economy is simply a win-win idea for everyone.”
