The Spring Art Walk!

 

The best way to kick off spring is to join us on Friday, March 23, 2018 for the Spring Art Walk.  The Art Walk will be hosted from 5:00 pm – 9:00pm.

 

The Art Walk Event is our celebration of local art, and is hosted twice a year in Downtown Newnan!  This spring’s theme is chalk art! Come see art come to life on downtown’s sidewalks (weather permitting)! During the Art Walk, businesses extend their hours to host store-front exhibits and demonstrations curated by a variety of Newnan’s finest artists. Complimentary tastings and hors d’oeuvres will be served by some of our local businesses, as well as specials and promotions. Visitors can expect to stroll through over 25 locations and see the work of at least 40 artists, and you will find a wide variety of art styles and mediums, including: oil on canvas, engraving, pottery, photography, jewelry-making, fiber arts, performing arts and acrylics. The downtown streets and sidewalks are sure to be filled with unexpected talent and delightful entertainment! There is no fee for admission to this event.

The Olate Dogs Variety Show

Quality entertainment for all ages is something we take great pride in and this event is for children and children at heart.
In 2012 on the seventh season, the audience of America’s Got Talent would meet a family like no other. A father, a son and a story that touches the heart of everyone that sees the bond between man and his best friend; or in this case friends. The Olate Dogs and Olate family were the winning participants from Season 7 of America’s Got Talent, receiving the $1,000,000 and headlining The Palazzo in Vegas that year. The 22 Olate Dogs create a high-energy, fast-paced theatrical act filled with doggie friendly and amazing pet tricks. The stunts, furiously wagging tales and joyful leaps into their owners arms will delight young and old.

Come join us for a wonderful evening celebrating Neo-Classical Ballet performed by Southern Arc Dance Theater with choreography by Paulo Manso de Sousa, a musical score composed by Dale Lyle and strings directed by Dr. Lyn Schenbeck.  The program will include all the colors of cancer, as reflected in ribbons in the cancer colors.

We would like to give a heartfelt Thank You to the Newnan Cultural Arts Commission for their support in the fundraising effort of SAIH, without whom this evening would not be possible.

Seating at 6:45 p.m.
Opening welcome statement and summary of the evening’s performance at 7:00pm.

ACT III – Free
The Finale, REJOICE!  Freeing the patient from the cancer with a performance by The Center Strings directed by Dr. Schenbeck and including all of the Southern Arc Theater dance students along with the performers.

After the ballet ends, you’re invited to stay for refreshments and mingle with the dancers.

Hills & Dales Estate Photography Contest

During the months of March through July, we invite contestants of all ages to submit photographs taken at the estate via the website. Categories include Landscape, Plant & Flower, Architecture, People and Wildlife, and all submissions will be done online. Contestants are encouraged to submit up to three pictures, and winners will be announced at a special reception on August 14. The Grand Prize Winner will receive $250, and category winners will be awarded $100 each. Join us for the third annual West Georgia Choral Arts Festival at Callaway Auditorium on the campus of LaGrange College.

Choral groups will include choirs from Point University, LaGrange College, Voices of the Valley Children’s Chorus, Faithful Hearts Women’s Ensemble, LaFayette Christian School, Phi Mu Alpha Men’s Chorus from Columbus State University, The MasterChorale from Newnan and the host choir, The Choral Society of West Georgia.

The clinician for the 2018 concert will be Dr. Michelle Herring-Folta, Professor of Music Education at Columbus State University and director of the Voices of the Valley Children’s Chorus.
