Newnan Theatre Company announces auditions for the first show of the 2013/2014 season, the classic, rock and roll Tony Award winning musical Bye, Bye Birdie! Auditions will take place at Newnan Theatre Company on Sunday June 16 and Monday June 17 at 7 pm both evenings. No audition appointments are needed; those interested in auditioning can choose either evening to attend. Newnan Theatre Company is located at 24 1^st Avenue Newnan, GA 30263. Performers are asked to prepare 32 measures of a Broadway song of their choice in the style of Bye, Bye Birdie. (Please no music from Disney, rock operas/musicals or hymns.) Auditioners can bring pre recorded tracks of their piece or bring sheet music in their key (which is preferred.) An accompanist will be available. Auditions will also have a dance portion, so all attendees are asked to dress prepared to move. Cold readings from the script will also be asked for. Sides will be made available at the auditions, not before. This production will perform September 5 through 15, 2013. Newnan Theatre Company does not charge production fees of any kind to any performers to take part in our productions. All roles are available, and performers from ages 5 years old and up are encouraged to audition. Rose Alvarez (Female 28-35, Soprano) Albert’s secretary and love. Conrad Birdie (Male 20 – 30, Baritone) Rock and Roll Elvis-like superstar Kim MacAfee (Female 14 – 16, Soprano) Teen-age girl selected to kiss Conrad Birdie on the Ed Sullivan Show. Pretty and self-possessed. Harry MacAfee (Male 40 – 50, Tenor) Kim’s father. Doris MacAfee (Female 40 – 50, Soprano) Kim’s mother. Mae Peterson (Female 50+, Alto) Albert’s mother. Hugo Peabody (Male 16 – 17, Tenor) Kim’s “steady” boyfriend Randolph MacAfee (Male 8 – 12, Boy Soprano) Kim’s younger brother. Ursula Merkle (Female 14 – 16, Soprano) A hyper enthusiastic friend and neighbor of Kim’s. Gloria Rasputin (Female 20 – 32, Soprano) Mae’s choice to replace Rosie. PTC Combat Fitness will hold an Anti Bullying Seminar on Saturday May 25th from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

The cost of the seminar will be absolutely free to the public and members alike. The seminar will be for children and teens from the ages from 4 to 18.

Our anti-bullying seminar is designed to teach children and young adults to be confident, aware, and protected in potentially dangerous situations. This program will not only help it’s participants be more aware and protected, but it will also help their self confidence, which often times can be the single most important thing in keeping them from being bullied.

Our goal is to keep each and every individual as safe as possible by teaching them the proper ways to handle bullying before and after it has happened.

Corner Arts is announcing a new exhibit “Photographers Only Artist Choice”.A percentage of the sales will go to the Newnan Coweta Art Association for the scholarships they so graciously give to selected art student seniors of the public high schools in Coweta County.Corner Arts will host a reception on Friday, May 10^th, 5:30 – 7 p.m.You should stop by that evening or during the month to see what our Local Photographers have to offer.

Have a grand night out on the town with the last show of our 2012-2013 season!

This recent hit in London is an adaptation of the 19th century farce by Johann Nestroy that provided the plot for Thornton Wilder's The Merchant of Yonkers, which led to The Matchmaker, which led to Hello, Dolly! The story is basically one long chase, chiefly after two naughty grocer's assistants who, when their master goes off on a binge with a new mistress, escape to Vienna on a spree!

Performance dates are May 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18 and 19, 2013. Show times are 8 pm Thursday through Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons at 3 pm. Tickets are $14 for Adults, $12 for Students/Seniors and $8 for Children 12 and under. All seats on Thursday evening are just $7! Newnan Theatre Company
